Handyman looking for disability insurance advice.

I am an independent handyman who does mostly small jobs that the bigger plumbers and carpenters do not want to bother with. I have been doing this the last few years, after working with other handymen as an assistant. Each year I am getting more and more work, and my income is growing. In the last year, one friend fell from a roof, landing on a cement flower planter, another was diagnosed with cancer. Both of my friends are in bad shape, and did not have insurance. They are having a bad time financially, and I do not want to end up in the same boat if something happens.

What I am basically wondering is if there are any insurance companies who would insure me for long term disability, and have the policy go until retirement if something bad happened. I have enough savings to cover any short term disability myself. If it matters, I am a male in my mid 30s. Any suggestions of companies to look up would be greatly appreciated.
