Has anyone heard of Federated Health Plan? I purchased their health plan last week and scheduled payments to be transfered from my checking account starting 12/3/07. Well since then four payments have been taken from my account. I called them and they said it was a gliche in the system. They were going to reimbursed withdrawals and over draft fees. Also, no more transactions will be taken. That was yesterday. Today there were more withdrawals from them. I left a message at 6pm for them to call me first thing tomorrow morning. I'm worried I've been scammed. Does anyone know anything about this company??
What should I do??

Although I'm not very well informed about them but they are most likely to be the extension of Federated Dental Plan based in Texas. Which sate are you from?

Agreed, a serious cause of concern.

Well, I believe you have received the policy papers..have you read the clauses carefully?

What I feel, Federated Insurance don't offer individual health plan. They only deal with group health plan and the name of their policy is, most probably, Federated Health Choice (FHC). But yours is an individual plan I guess. Therefore, make sure that whether its an original Federated Insurance Plan or not because Federated is quite a renowned name in the business of insurance.

Have you bought the plan online or bought it through their agent? If you know any of the Federated Insurance agents contact him immediately.

If they do not respond back to your call ….I would rather suggest that you visit their office personally and talk to the concerned official.

Please keep us updated....

There are a few questions that come to my mind as I read about your situation. First of all, how did you come to find out about this company. Did you contact them, or did they solicit you?? Secondly, did you receive any literature concerning the company? Do they have any literature available upon request? What made you chose them?? Was it the price? Was it a super saavy salesperson?

You need to find out how long this company has been in business and how reputable they are. They may be telling you the truth about the computer gliche. Many insurance companies now have hired out the job of electronic billing to an outside company, and they dont always get it right the first time. This however, is NOT YOUR PROBLEM.

Also, this may just be the beginning of your problems. What is their reputation on paying claims? How reliable are they? How long have they benn in business? Are you getting the picture here? While you are still new into this policy, you should have a 30 day free look period where you can drop the policy with no consequences and receive a full refund if you arent happy with it.

So just make sure that as soon as possible you begin doing your research and asking more questions about this company. They may be ok and just had a few rough spots, or they could turn out to be your worst nightmare.

I'm very familiar with what once was federated health, but is now called formulated. If this is the company you're referring to, they are as honest as the day is long. If it 's the current Fed health, who knows.
