Are you saying that you've already been paid for this claim ? Or was it settled on an annuity or something that was to pay you twenty years later? Were you a minor at the time of settlement? Did you actually get the money then, (not long after the accident) if so then it was done 28 years ago....Please be more specific...If you need to get ahold of state farm, or the rep that handled that claim, you will need to call your friend and ask who her agent was way back then perhaps (if they are still living) they will have copies of something and you can track it that way...I just am not understanding if you settled it then you have nothing coming now..

... carry the one...

OP, I'm not sure I udnerstand the situation but you should be able to call the carrier with your name and they should be able to search for the claim. They might need some extra time to "restore" the information so it can be reviewed on their computer system, though.

thanks.i got the cash and had 5,000 that was for any medical bills and it was good until it was used up and i only used 1000 so i still have 4,.000 that i can use to get my nose done and my headaches under control.the med.$ is still there with that state farm. :)

Still not a very good description of what took place. It sounds like there was some type of medical payments available at the time.

Two things may apply...

1) Regardless of what the coverage was, the medical treatment needs to be related to the accident. Your saying you've has headaches for the past 18 years and not sought any medical treatment for them? If you sought medical treatment for them, who has been paying the bills? Was your nose injured in the accident and it's been like that for 18 years?

2) There is a possibility that some Statue of Limitations may apply to your injury. If one applies, it's probably ran.

 ok so it has been three days of over 250 miles each...and math 'ain't ' my strong suit !! 18 years!

I think I've got it now, tcope she had a open ended release for 5k in meds...however I've never seen one without a time limit...? doesn't mean there couldn't be one I've just not seen one...I'm sure it was 5k settlement with 5k open end release (to be used for medical bills only...) I settled many claims like this years ago...tcope is correct in that your doc will have to say (without question) your headaches are related to this accident that occured 18 years ago...as tcope said, state farm will be able to find the claim with your name, and/or the insured's name (your friend I think) ... call your local state farm claims office and see....you didn't answer were you a minor when this happened? are you sure there was no time limit on this release? You have none of the paper work, or maybe your parents?

This may be a hunch but I know alot of State Farm agents in Texas write 5k in PIP. If they were the passenger of the vehicle, they may have been entitled to the 5k but only used 1k.

I don't know if there is a time limit on PIP but you would definitely need to find out who the agent was or maybe even call State Farm claims and give them the customer's name. They may be able to pull up the claim.
