How much home liability insurance in Florida needs to be carried that would also cover the dock?

Liability coverage has nothing to do with your deck. Deck or swimming pool is covered under the property coverage of a home insurance policy that helps pay for damage to your home, the contents of your home and other personal belongings owned by you or family members who live with you.

On the other, the liability coverage provides the protection against lawsuit or claim resulting from bodily injury or property damage to others. It is necessary to point out in a policy what properties are to be covered. Check your policy for the exclusions and discuss with your agent.

Thanks.

Only the part of your homeowners insurance policy that emphasizes on physical damages would have something to do with your deck.
Refer to your agent while choosing the amounts of coverage for liability and physical damage. Its understandable that you want to insure your assets and at the same time you want to avoid paying for an insurance for which you won't ever be able to file a claim. You should go ahead and consult with your broker to know the exact limitations of your policy and make due changes to suit your needs if necessary.

Additional riders are often allowed by almost all the policies to cover more than just the standard policy. So get absorbed in evaluating your home, the attached and the unattached structures too.
