Insurance do you really need it or not?
i think it depends on the insurance. If you are looking at house, car, or health insurance I would say definitely yes. If you have a fire in your house, wreck your care, or have health problems these can help you from losing everything. I think life insurance can be important if you have a family so that they can be provided for if anything happens to you. Any other insurance is up to you.

I think most folks, unless very wealthy (and perhaps them even more) need insurance. Not only to protect the 'covered' property such as vehicle, boat, home, but even more important to protect your assets, (bank accounts, risk of never having an entire paycheck again, thru garnishments). If you don't have auto insurance for example, and cause an accident injuring people and of course the vehicle damage, then you personally will have to pay for ALL of the damages you became responsible for thru your negligence. Claims can easily run into the tens-hundreds of thousands of dollars. In that respect if for no other reason, insurance is something most people should have.

YES....for both general and life. It's just like a blanket for us in cold season. Especially for life insurance, it is our long term saving goals for those who knows about the benefits from saving attitude.

Okay, I'm confused. Whether or not someone "needs" liability (car, home, boat, airplane, chicken ranch, etc.) insurance is irrelevant if it is required by law. Ask a local police officer if he/she thinks a person "needs" auto coverage to drive a car in the United States and see what is said. Life, health, DI is up to the individual and good points can be made for either side of the "needs" question. I've written a number of articles on this that can be seen at www.markcolbert.com

I think most folks, need insurance and that to life insurance is a must as it help them to recover from the immediate losses quickly and more efficiently so in my views life insurance is a must and one should definetly go for it .....!

These days, where life has become so fast paced, insurance has become a necessity. It is most definitely not just a luxury anymore. Every individual should have an insurance policy. Having a life insurance policy is certainly essential. Such a policy will prove to be a great help to them when they or their close family members fall ill or meet with an accident. In order to be able to bear the costs, such people will require external help. And this is exactly what the insurance companies are here for. In some cases, the company will reimburse the costs incurred, whereas in others, they will provide support right away without any delay. Insurance companies are among the safety nets that one should be able to fall back on in times of need and when sudden accidents cause chaos in one's life.

Although life insurance is really important nowadays, I honestly don't have it yet. I currently have health insurance for I know that might get sick. I will just get life insurance when I have a family of my own wherein they are dependent on me. But right now that I am single, I think its not a necessity for me because nobody is depending on me yet.

Ask yourself- Is it your need?
Most of us would NEED it at some point in life. Life poses no guarantee,so does finances. "Precaution is better than cure".

I would like to share my experience with you. I had started my own business of garment manufacturing in 2004. It was doing good.
26th july 2005 - Mumbai - A city that never sleeps, HALTED COMPLETELY.
Reason - Mumbai deluge.
Since my unit was on ground floor and was NOT INSURED, I lost everything in one day.
I learnt the imporatance of "being insured" that day. I had to start everything from the start.
Insurance teaches you how to be smart in life.

Man, that's nasty, I did a search and it said that the water was 3 feet deep. My sympathies.
Insurance is always a good thing to have, yes it sucks to pay it, yes it sucks when nothing happens, but at least you can sleep at night knowing theres something to fall back on.
It's always worth taking out insurance, even if you think you don't need it. Always remember that anything can happen. A landlord I know lost one of his properties due to fire, and he didn't have anything covering it.

Hey Quenlin,
Yes anything can happen anytime. I have experienced it. Ask me how much it hurts. Something that takes you years to built gets destroyed in no time.
Lesson learnt : Precaution is better than cure!!!
