American Family Insurance Complaints

Guys..its truly interesting to see so many people have expressed their grievances at this fraud forum.

It needs a lot of guts to stand against frauds & I'm amazed to see a couple of you have really done that. I still remember the day (Dec, 2003) that my fiance went on to see the American Family Insurance representative & got a car insurance policy for us.

It was quite a shock for me when our car got stolen after that. American Family seemed quite proactive to meet the claim initials as we were to shift from that place the next day.

A couple of days later we were being consulted by their rep about the residue of our claim which according to them could not be met due my fiance's felony conviction since 2 decades. What they had to say was that American Family would not have covered him at all in case they had this information beforehand. They had given us an ultimatum that if he withdraws the claim he would be free or else they would seek legal help & see that he gets a sentence.

In mid-2004, my fiance got convicted of insurance scam. It was evident that the applications submitted by American Family Insurance to the attorney general were fraudulent. Once he recalled the signing procedure, he never remembered the agent asking him about his felony conviction. The agent must have submitted the paper works for which he had obtained my fiance's signature. The applications with us were left blank for those questions. My fiance was up with 1-6 for 2 folds of insurance fraud..I haven't read much about the american family insurance complaints but any advice would be of great help to people under such circumstances!

Thanx.. Amy_LV

I'm also curious to know why you won't get your second home covered under the same carrier that covers your primary residence. I've heard that it's often beneficial to get both residences covered under the same carrier. Is it that your second home is situated in a different state? That won't perhaps be a good reason to think like that.

Yes, there can be some additional discounts for doing as Steven ponders. However, Steven, it depends on where the second residence is located.

It could be in a fire zone that the insurer is not happy to see, and they take a pass. Or it could be in a different state, as you ask, where the insurance company does not do business.

And the OP might have gotten a quote from his company and it was too high for his comfort.

Any number of reasons to do what has been done.

Trying to get them to treat me ethically. But this thread is giving me even more doubts.

see someone griping about grammar.

When I got in my car wreck that was the AM driver's fault I was so upset that I didn't even mention the best MLM.

I am also a former AF agent. They tried to train me to lie. To tell people I wasn't calling to sell them insurance.

Hum perhaps that was the truth after all!!!!

I worked for American Family Insurance. And believe me, it is NOT a company that you want to do business with. I have witnessed numerous ethical issues with agents from stealing premiums to providing coverage with added premium without the insured knowledge. :(

American Family is the most unethical Insurace co. No problem until a claim is filed. They intentionlaly delay claims, fail to properly investigate, make false allegations to shift a breach of contract for failure to cooperate further without probable cause in order to avoid paying and invoke legal action claiming that a valid claim was filed as a fraudulant claim, labeling insureds as criminals. It seems to be the standard tactic if a theft or fire claim is filed. Corporate Greed

Report every incident of delays in Handling claims and all other malpractices to the state insurance department. They take such matters very very very seriously.
