Well, this one really seems to be a good platform to discuss Insurance fraud. Though I've not come across a way to make sure that my car won't ever be stolen, I'd like to have feed backs regarding the prevention of car insurance frauds. Please also suggest what I should remember while buying a vehicle as also while picking up a repair service following a catastrophe.

How to prevent insurance fraud....? Don't lie to the insurance company.
Insurance fraud is almost always perpetrated against an insurance company. It's usually done so that the claimant is paid more then they are entitled to.

You can avoid getting your car stolen by a few simple moves. It isn't a sure fire solution since there are probaly very experienced car thieves out there. The biggest way to avoid a stolen vehicle is NEVER leave your keys in your vehicle and always lock the doors. Todays world is far from the way it used to be and people need to relize not locking their car doors and taking out their keys is a thing of the past. Also to avoid break ins never leave packages where they can be seen through the window. Put them in the trunk where the are less obvious. People will do anything for a dime these days.

In buying a vehicle, i think you must choose the one that is not so catchy in a thief's eye. It doesnt eliminate the possibilities of theft totally but it can lessen. Equip your vehicle with security equipments such as alarms and locks. As what they have said, dont leave your keys in the car as well as personal belongings especially the registration. There are a lot of security equipments you can buy for a very cheap price. Its for the sake of your vehicle anyway.

I really don't think it will eliminate the the possibilities. Car thiefs are also in search of scrap material may be because of less risk involved.

See Pinkfloydfan, auto fraud can be both ways. Either you can be responsible for a fraud or a victim. How you can avoid being party to a fraud will need moral science lessons (if needed). But you can try to avoid being a victim of fraud. You must be really cautious when you are on the road driving. The basic thing is to have presence of mind. We have a post on our community blog which I thought you might like to read.

it will, most of the thiefs dont have your idea about scrap materials. majority of them will look on overall profitability of your car.. it cannot be avoided but it can lessen the chances.

Yes you are absolutely right. People will do anything to claim money from insurance company. In some cases they get help from the corrupt employees from the insurance company itself. Otherwise it's not easy to file a claim.
