If there was a problem processing your 11/22 payment, I would think you would say to yourself, "Self, it's 12/1 and they say they are going to try to process ANOTHER payment. I think I might check my account online (or the phone) and make sure this payment posted."

But hey, that's just me.

I owned two expensive vehicles. My home was vandalized and they were burned up. Geico tried to blame it on me. They spent months investigating, during which they did not pay the claim. In the meantime I could not buy another car because I had outstanding loans on these and had cosigned for a friends car. It is hard to prove you didn't do something. I finally cleared myself by requesting a lie detector test which I passed of course. In the meantime I was treated like a criminal. Geico cost me incredible suffering and damaged credit. Its easy to stonewall over the phone. I now carry AAA. I thought I was covered but these people really let me down.

It sounds like you were covered, but there were some red flags that delayed the claim. If they have caused you harm. Get an attorney sue them for bad faith.

Amen. I think an attorney is definitely necessary in this situation.

i had geico and my daughter bought a new car. the insurance was changed and about six months later she had and accident. geico said they had no insurance on this car the insurance was still on the car that was traded. we had totaled car and because it was her fault damages and medical bills on her and the other car owner. should have changed then. a year or so goes by mydaughter get married and moves away. geico would not take her off my insurance. after months of faxing them proof of her address they change my coverage to liability only and find out about a few months later from my auto loan company not geico. my bill didn't go down. i finally had them change this after her moter-in-law who worked for another insurance company faxed about tenth fax with her morgage info stayed on the phone with the person to confirm they had received it. that was it. on march15 2011 i went with another company. by policey was not up until april 1 2011. today i get a letter from a collection agent saying i owe geico $70 and some change. call. they want to start that fax game over again. i refuse. after talking with a lady out of va. it was taken care of. just got email from Brent Peters to start this all over.

GEICO has a very efficient website on which you can easily view your coverage, make changes to your coverage, add or delete drivers. Apparently you made no effort to verify your coverage. If the change was made, you would have received documents as evidence of the change. If you never received those documents, what would lead you to believe any changes were made?

I personally have been a GEICO policyowner for almost four years, and have never experienced any difficulties like this, and have made instantaneous changes to my coverage on the GEICO website, including deleting coverage for one vehicle and adding its replacement in the same set of transactions. Very seamless process.

Learn to use the insurance company's (any insurance company's) website for the most efficient maintenance of your coverage . . . with or without an agent.
