Does any one know the significance of having Pork and Kraut for new years, we have always done this and I have never questioned the meaning behind it, LOL. Just wondering if anyone knows.

I always heard it was pork and black eyed peas.Or was it ham? Anyway we do it sometimes and sometimes not.

sour kraut and black eyed peas are for good luck in the comeing year, ive always said if they dont bring you good luck at least youll start the new year with a clean colon. lol

I really don't think anything we eat is going to bring us luck.I think we make our own luck.I am not superstitious that way.

I like saur Kraut.I like blackeyed peas and pork .But I don't worry about eating them on the 1 st day of the year or neccessarily together.

Start the 'new year' with a clean digestive system. Kraut is a real good laxative !!
