Group health insurance - Can my employer drop it for all?

Our employer might drop group insurance for all of us. Ever since the last 2 years it has been a part of my compensation. Arranging for separate health insurance for my family members could be pretty expensive!
Do we have any option which might compel our employer to keep us covered?

They can indeed drop it for all. The only compelling argument may be the employees paying a bigger percentage of the cost.

No worries, Barak Obama's health care plan will force your insurance company to offer it again, so happy days are soon to come again. This of course assumes that your company stays in business or doesn't lay you off due to down sizing so they can afford to continue to remain in business while offering what will likely be much more expensive health insurance once this reform is done.

There's no obligation on your employer to provide you with group coverage. I don't think there's any recourse.

Well, I'm sure this compensation was not a part of your employment agreement. It was just a part of the benefits statement that was being offered to you for that time.

Let's understand one thing very clearly - a company might add, modify or cancel benefits at any point of time. Insurance is just a benefit and not any form of compensation.

I beleive small businesses according to Obama Castro care will now get a tax incentive towards each employee they insure.

Into every intelligent discussion is injected a demonstration of rude and useless bashing of the President. Too bad citizens choose this course of behavior.

Unfortunate that you feel this way. A free and unfettered press and public is one of the bastions that this country was founded on. "Bashing" of the President, Congress and other politicos has been one of the the only ways to keep those folks in line. Just as unfortunate is the fact that the media no longer has a clue on what "reporting" really means anymore; instead let's see what we can do to sell copy, inflame the public and curry favor with those in "power."

Too bad you don't feel our constitutional rights are important anymore. If the public doesn't cause an uproar, who will?
