Hi,
That's quite a debatable issue I guess!
I don't think it would be easier for all insurance professionals or carriers to answer this one. Even the advocates and carriers would show different opinions regarding this topic. Some of them would just be too confused to convey their opinions. Purpleheaded08

Health coverage for infertility may be available even with the employer provided health coverage, but is often too expensive to carry. Hence, you may not find many insurance companies offering coverage for infertility treatments. However, some may exclude only specific treatments whereas the others may also exclude the diagnosis.

Thanks,
Rupert

Hi all..
Many states have specific legislations about infertility coverage. In some of these states it is mandatory to provide a certain worth of infertility coverage along with the general health insurance plans. Some other states would make it a choice for the applicants to accept it or reject it while signing up. Still, there are many states who would not go for any such fixations. Crossbreed

Some of the individual policies that I sell have additional riders that can be purchased so that it is covered (along with birth control). It just varies by the Insurance company and state DOI regulations.

My wife had a tubular reversal which was fully covered, then when the doc. wanted to try in vetro the ins. company said it was not covered. My wife looked at our policy and found that the drugs were covered just not the actual procedure. Our doctor said he would do it for free though so we got lucky, because the procedure is what costs the most. But back to you, check to see if the drugs are covered, that will save you a bit.

Generally speaking, individual and family plans will not cover infertility whereas group employer sponsored plans may.
