I've heard that health insurance is specifically available for our temporary or seasonal laborers. Is it true? How's it different than the general health insurance programs?

You would probably not want to do this. The expense of insuring and subsequently terminating insurance for employees is costly and would impact the premiums in a negative way.

Better, perhaps, is to offer employees "supplemental benefits" that they can "take with them" after they leave. They pay for it, and as the employer, you may (or may not) offer payroll deductions to make it easy for employees to pay. AFLAC is the leader in such benefits, but not the only player in the game.

Supplemental benefits? Would you care to be a bit more illustrative? Are these benefits meant for temporary or seasonal employees only?

Short-term health insurance plans are generally aimed at people who're being laid off, ones who fail to pay for COBRA, switching jobs or are fresh graduates. Such plans are offered for a period of 30 days till upto 12 months. But, this depends on your state norms.

Supplemental disability benefits are meant for anyone with earned income that could be affected due to an accident or illness.
