Are you trying to determine whether or not to sign up for long term care insurance? Please clarify your question for me. Thanks

Indemnity benefit, cost of living adjustment amount, pool of benefit feature if you are not using a lifetime benefit amount.

Obviously, you'd need to look for what's in and what's out. It's your choice whether you'd like to pick a policy that just covers nursing home care, or if you'd like to go for one that covers assisted living care as well.

You'll qualify for such programs when you need daily living assistance. Impaired cognition could just be another cause.

So, just check if the policy covers your normal daily activities e.g. bathing, having food, toileting etc.

I'm sure you'd also like to choose the elimination period. It's the period which lapses till your coverage actually comes into effect. It could stretch from 0-90 days. At times it could even be longer than this. You'll need to pay lesser premiums for a longer elimination period.
