We've rented out our old country home of late. Our insurance agent has suggested that we go for some thing called "Fire dwelling insurance", but he failed to explain the benefits properly. Is it the right option for us now?

Your home owner's insurance wouldn't cover you for the damages caused to your home if you're currently not staying in it (and renting it instead).

One important USP of the fire dwelling coverage is that it protects your properties that you've rented out. You'd be entitled to receive the rental value for one full year from your insurer if you fail to rent your home following damages caused due to one of the listed reasons.
