We recently suffered a house fire and have just been notified that the insurance check for the dwelling portion of the claim has been mailed to us. It will be written to myself and also the mortgage company how can I put their name on it and/or will I get in trouble, because I really want to start repair right away. Is it possible to forge their name???

you may be able to use a stamp with their name but be careful

So what your really asking is can you commit check fraud and sign in place of the mortgage company? If you need advice on how to commit check fraud you probably don't want to go any further.
Why not avoid and problems and simply call your mortgage company to see how to proceed?
Edit: Well there you have it... you asked a question and answered your own question as if you were someone else.

i suggest that you call up your mortgage company and figure the procedures of the claim with them. if you want to forge their name, it will be considered as fraud, and you dont want to know more about the consequences. it doesnt really take that long to get in touch with your mortgage company and complete the claim processes, so please go through the trouble. i would advise you against signing in place of the mortgage company.
by the way, i agree with tcope that it's funny how you asked a question, and then answered it as if it was someone else. but once again, i suggest that you keep to the procedures.

You could be someone's "cookie" in jail if you want to forge the mortgage company's name.
