We assume that after watching so many window demonstrations that we have aluminum single frame windows and although the windows don't appear to collect mold, we definitely have destroyed window sill that we didn't know until we removed the formica

Flood waters would rarely rise to window sills. I agree that it happened to some Oklahoma homes, but if that's not the case, then another possible source of damage could be rain water. If there's moisture, there's mold.
