Hi Stig,

Without knowing the verbiage of your policy its hard to comment anything. What does the policy paper state?

Have you checked with the option of filing under the tenants policy instead?

I think cannabis is an illegal substance. Hadn't you had any idea what the tenants are doing in your property?

Does your policy document say anything about not covering the damages if the property is used for illegal activities?

While renting a property the tenant/renter is required to take out insurance to cover future losses, but the tenants being gangsters I don't think they have taken out any such coverage.

Are you questioning how you can word your loss to the insurance company to get it covered? The only case I could see is vandalism, in which case they are going to ask about rental history, how long has the unit been vacant, has the police been notified. They are then going to find that the people that caused the damage lived in the unit. I just don't see there being coverage for the damage.
