Changing Career into Insurance Business

I am looking to make a career change from sales/marketing into the insurance business, with the ultimate goal of becoming an actuary. I have always been very strong with numbers and the lack of the challenge and mental stimulation in my current field is very hard for me to deal with.

I have done very well in sales and even completed an MBA, however, I find myself doing nothing but researching the actuarial field and beginning to prepare myself for the first exam. The thought of having a career working with numbers where continuing education is rewarded motivates me to take strides toward this profession.

Does anybody have any advice on the best way for me to get my foot into the door with a good insurance company?

I will start wherever I need to and study and pursue whatever exams, licenses, or certifications are required for the field. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

wow! all I can about that is ouch! No just kidding, it takes a 'certain' type of mind, to enjoy that part of the industry...Sounds like you cut from that cloth. Let me ask you are you a captive agent or independent that sells for multiple carriers? You might start with the carrier(s) you work for now. Get to the highest level in HR that you can. And discuss your goal. Other than that, I'd hit the boards...all carriers have on their sites job openings, and places you can post your resume'...good luck!
