How do you go about getting a contract or appointed with Insurance Companies to sell their products? I have 20 years experience, 9 year commercial Fleet Underwriting, 1 year Nationwide office Agent, 10 years Agent. My husband is not interested in getting into the industry, so I guess it's time to take this to another level.

Any suggestions??? Ideas??? Help???

Thanks and I look forward to the responses.

btw, I am new here, I figure I needed to find a place on the internet where other Insurance professions networked : )

You seem to have a lot of professional experience in this field. It would be great to know more about your experiences with Nationwide. Did you work as an independent insurance agent for the 10 years that you've mentioned?

SonyaL,

There are 2 ways to get contracts with carriers. The first is to go to the carrier directly (some do not allow this...like MetLife). Depending your commited productrion will dictate your commission.

The other way is to join or us an IMO or BGA (a broker) who has contracts with many carriers.
