I'm a personal lines agent currently setting up with an Agency as an employee. The contract offered will be commission only with earning roughly 6% on the sale. I also bring to the Agency a web marketing system which helps bring in a few extra leads a month. Nothing huge. I'm basically just wanting a clearer idea of how things work. Any feedback is much appreciated.

How is your Agency set up as far as
commission only employees are concerned?
Do you let your commission only employees
work incoming phone leads?
Do the CSRs assist the employed Agents
with followups and other service work?
As far as other marketing costs, overhead etc...
What should be my responsibility as an employed Agent.
What should be the Agency's responsibility.

Not really the answer I was looking for. Are commission only Agents within an Agency (earning 1/2 the commission of sales made) responsible for any overhead, cost of advertising, or cost of work performed by CSRs.

From my experience you will not absorb any overhead expense. We do limited advertising for sub agents and csr's service "all" accounts including those written by the subagt. As far as incoming quote requests...the house normally keeps all requests that are results of ongoing agency marketing programs..as would be expected. Subagent should have access to cross sell opportunities from existing book as well.
