Hi Everyone,
I am currently working on my Fire & Casualty requirements in the state of CA. I am currently employed as a Sales Internet Manager for Ford for the last 3 years. Before this 7yrs in Mortgage industry. Should I start work at an Independent office or an Allstate, Farmers, State Farm etc.. What can I expect to make first year. I am a hustler hard worker.
Thanks!

Not necessarily in your best interest.
But to be successful, you are going to have to learn far more than what you need to pass the license exam. You may learn it in an independent agency if someone is willing to train you. Otherwise, your alternative is to get started with one of the companies you have named, or any of a couple of dozen others I can think of.
What are you looking for? The joy of helping people meet their needs or the glory of a paycheck with a comma in the number?

I am looking for the joys of helping others in return getting the results I put in to help myself and family live a good life. 8)

Wonderful! If you forget about the money you can make, you'll do fine.
Just find an agency or company willing to train you. If the later rewards are insufficient, then you can become an independent agent in your own right, or find another agency that will benefit both your and your clients.
If you were not aware of it, the Fire & Casualty license in California is changing on January 1, 2011. There will be two licenses: Property Broker-Agent and Casualty Broker-Agent. If you also want to market health and disability insurance products, which can be done by a Fire & Casualty Broker-Agent until December 31, 2010, you will also need an Accident & Health Agent license. If you have not already applied for the F&C license, be sure to do so soon.

I just read this on the Insurace website. Thanks for the info. Since I am currently taking a pre-licensing online course for Fire & Casualty does this mean that all of the studying I have done is meaningless. Do I have to sign up for something else? I just dont think ill make the deadline. Or for what I am currently studying still apply to one of the licenses?
Kind Regards,
Kevin

Kevin . . .
Your studying is not meaningless. It's just that you'll also need to do the Accident & Health prelicensing and/or Life Agent Prelicensing course(s) to obtain life and accident/health licenses if you plan on doing anything other than auto and homeowner's or commercial insurance.

Don't assume the career big names will train you any better. They might, but you're real objective should be to demand knowledge. It's important be an expert.
Anyone can be a hardworker, but there's a certain level of skilled you'll need to hone if you really want to be successfull. Otherwise you're a hard working hustler who is probably woefully underpaid.
Goodluck.
