Hi,
I am currently on probation in AZ for unlawful discharge or a firearm, a class 6 undesignated felony. After I complete my 2 year term of probation, the charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor. Basically, I drank too much, got very drunk, and I shot a gun at the ground. There were no victims, no property was damaged, no one was threatened, and it was my first and only offense. The crime occurred in April 2010, and I was convicted in August 2010.
I am an EMT currently, and have been for 4 years, and was able to obtain recertification with the felony conviction. I am also a full time college student, have had the same job for the past 4 years, and am a Kiwanian. I tell you all of this to establish that I am not a criminal, and that the one time mistake truly was that; a mistake.
I now want to get my Property and Casualty license in AZ, and am wondering if this will bar me from obtaining it. Any advice you can offer to help me pursue this goal would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

If you forgot to mention you have a misdemeanor which occurred over 17 years old would this prevent me from obtaining a license?

If I forgot to disclose a misdemeanor which occurred over 17 years agao when completing my application will I be able to obtain a license? I went to the court house and the court documents were destroyed. I was able to obtain a certified letter from the court these documents were destroyed due to the misdemeanor being minor and such an old case.

You should all the CA Dept of Insurance Producer Licensing Bureau and discuss the matter with a representative. 1-800-967-9331. Best to call at or as close to 8:00am as possible. Just follow the automatic "voice response unit" prompts to get to a live person.
It will not be a problem, you may just need to send them a copy of the letter you received from the court.

And now you're yelling at us?
You are required to report criminal convictions to the Dept of Insurance. It is unlikely that your conviction for domestic violence will be an issue. Failure to disclose is.

Are you still licensed as of today regardless of your felony?

Why are you asking a question of another "Guest" like yourself, who posted his/her question two years ago, and most likely has never returned to this site? Even you won't be notified of this reply to your post, and won't see it unless you come back voluntarily. LOL!

I was suspended from the az bar for allowing a son to sign for his incapacitated father to avoid probate as the document followed the will, I was denied a license in 2011, I later was disbarred for allegedly reviewing a trust without proper supervision...I did not contest it in 2013. Can I successfully get licensed in AZ for insurance?
