You can browse the web, look for quotes and compare them. Directly purchasing a policy online isn’t recommended since it is very important to read through the entire policy carefully before you finally put your signature on it.

I think most people benefit from buying insurance from an agent, but you can't compare & read insurance policies until you buy it, and the insurance policy is sent to you. Getting specimen insurance policies to read before you buy is difficult, even from agents.

You are right Robert742. That is why it is always advisable to consult an agent in the matter of buying an insurance policy. Since you can't obtain a sample policy by yourself, your agent is the best source of information you have (since he has himself read and sold policies).
