BUILDING YOUR BOOK OF BUSINESS?

by Christopher Dunkin » Fri May 04, 2012 06:23 pm

What are the best way successful insurance agents are building their book these days?

I know there is know way of getting around making calls but what other ways are successful?

Walk in marketing, what would be a good not script but talking points for one.

I just moved to a new town and am trying to explore all my options...

Thank you

The most successful agents simply talk to people -- not so much from a script but from their heart. If you know your products and your purpose, you communicate that and set appointments.

The elevator to success is broken, so you take things one step at a time.

Very true, simple but helpful thank you...

So if you walked into a business and was hoping to gain an appointment how would you go about it

What are you marketing? Life, health, disability income, P&C? Each product line requires a slightly different approach.

The one thing I learned a long time ago that is most helpful is to not ask questions which lead to YES or NO answers. You want to give folks a choice of alternatives.

You might go in, introduce yourself, and then state something like, "I'm new in town and trying to get my business up and running. And I certainly don't want to take up your time right now, but do you know anyone who might be interested in (your product or service)?"

Works for me. Just have to figure out how you're going to describe your product or service.
