20 year old conviction???

I have a quick question and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm looking to get my license to sell insurance. I do have a couple opportunities which I would love to take advantage of but I don't know if I will get denied when I go to take my test. I have no felonies on my record however I do have a charge that I'm really worried about. Back almost 20 years ago I was charged and arrested for misdemenor embezzlement. I stole from the company I worked for, it was less than $200. I paid the fine and did the year probation. I figured I was 19 and getting no jail time that it was a good deal they gave me. I had no idea that almost 20 years later I'd be dealing and worrying about a mistake I made right out of high school. I know I was wrong, trust me I think about it everyday, I'm not Bernie Madoff, I was a kid who made a stupid mistake.

In your opinions, will the ammount of time that it's been (almost 20 yrs) and the fact that it was a misdemenor help? I would really appreciate any and all responses.

Thanks

You'll need to disclose details about it when you apply and sit for the test.
You may feel safe and go ahead with the process. In all probability, it might not affect your chances.

Actually, the disclosure is made in the application for the license. Failure to disclose is always worse than the disclosure itself.
