This is simply the definition of the word captive and Independent straight from the dictionary. This is not meant to be offensive. If you are frustrated with your current captive environment or are considering one career path over the other this might shed some light on your decision.What is a Captive? An agent that represents and or is contractually loyal to one product. What is an Independent agent? An Agent that has multiple price points and options to take care of the Insureds needs .

Captive: A person who has been taken prisoner, confined, or kept under restraint. (Synonyms: Prisoner or Jailbird)

Independent: Free from outside control. Not depending on Another's authority. (Synonyms: Liberation, freedom, Unconventional)
