The Mathematical Difference between Captive and Independence:
The same variables; two very different distribution channels:
10 quoted Clients, each worth $3000 in Written Premium (WP).
A Captive Agent closes 20% of the 10 quoted clients; binding 2, writing $6,000 in WP at an average 12% commission, earning $720.
An Independent Agent closes 70% of the 10 quoted clients (Because they have more price points to win); binding 7, writing $21,000 in WP at an average 15% commission, earning $3,150
