Prospecting

I am semi retired age 64. I have a fulltime job selling/managing a cemetery for a fairly large cemetery funeral home combo. My manager informs me the company wants a second counselor in this small office. He claims it will free up my time to go out into the community. But I fear it will further divide a shrinking pie. I have a lot of experience in Med Sup and Med advantage. I got in on the ground floor of the advantage plans and part D. When I was doing it full time a few years ago I started buying Med Sup leads with mixed success. They were being sold to who knows how many agents. Early on I could pounce on the phone and got my call in first to a lot of them. Later on agents with more resources were able to have an auto dialer call them and leave a recorded message. As you know, being the first call back is important. I'd like to sell these products again and would like some input on how to prospect. I don't have a website and I am not able to be at the phone all of the time. Does anyone have any advice? I'm not looking to get rich just do it part-time and build some supplemental retirement $$'s.

No doubt that's how it once was. But it's not like that at all today. It is almost 100% forbidden to call folks who did not request the call in advance, and when you buy leads, you have no idea how they were generated, and a single phone call in violation of the federal TCPA can cost you between $500 and $1500 dollars as civil penalty.

CMS/HHS regulations further prohibit cold calling or public prospecting.

In other words, agents mostly have to wait for their phones to ring instead of ringing other phones.
