Help a new agent (me) get started please!

by AllanHu20 » Thu Aug 30, 2007 08:52 am

Hi guys, new to this forum so I feel a little bad about asking for help before I make any positive contribution. But I am gonna ask anyways! Ask and you shall receive, right? lol

I just got started as a agent with Farmers and I am licensed to sell P&C, L&H, and also got my 6 and 63 license. Because Farmers gives subsidy based mainly on your P&C production, I am mostly concerned about meeting my P&C quota.

1. What other active prospecting ideas do you guys have besides local small business walk&talk?

2. Should I use L&H to get my foot in the door then sell P&C to a client? Or the reverse? What works better for you guys?

3. Anything that you guys have done in the past that generate prospecting results in terms of P&C?

4. It seems that success of P&C sales come down to mostly price while coverage is secondary. What can I do to overcome that?

All advices are appreciated. Thank you for putting in the time to help me!

Allan,
If you are looking at building a local book of business I would recommend joining the chamber of commerce and referral groups such as BNI, these consist of outher professionals who trade referrals back and forth. Also be sure you are getting referrals, regardless of whether or not you make a sale ASK FOR REFERRALS. Also it's a good idea to join a sales training or support organization.

We have allot of Farmers Agents that have their Health and Life with us to assist them with their training, selling and prospecting. You might want to check us out

I came across this old post, but thought it was a good one. There are many different ways to prospect for clients, and networking with other professionals in an excellent suggestion. I was introduced by a client to their attorney (business formations, etc.) and promptly began to sell more key person life policies to his other clients.

What other prospecting ideas or marketing ideas do we have?
