I am a sales professional from the mortgage industry and am now considering a career as an insurance agent. I'm thinking Property/Casualty to begin with.
Can some of you seasoned agents give me some of the challenges or pitfalls that I will want to watch out for as a new agent? What should I be looking for in the company I choose to work with?

You may have to undergo a training to obtain the license. After the successful completion of the training, one has to pass in the state insurance agent exam.

Insurance definitely offers exciting career opportunities. And you have won the first battle, already as you are into the selling profession.
An aspiring agent should apply their best judgment while choosing the insurance company to work with. This is the most important step towards building a successful career as an insurance agent.
The above poster is right……….after clearing the exam you need to seek association with a company that will back you in obtaining license.
Thanks,
Carol

You are right, this community can flaunt its association with some seasoned agents. I am sure that they and the other members also will come forward to help you out.

Although I'm not an agent but certainly you should select the company which will offer you a good training program.

At the risk of having someone jump down my throat, I'll say that Farmers has a great training program and an above average home-office support system. I personally don't like State Farm and absolutely cannot stand Allstate.
Please let me make it clear that I am not a P&C agent for any company and the preceding was only my opinion. However, most courts tend to give my opinion a little more regard than most.
Good luck.

I'm with AmeriPlan. Even though I'm personally not an Insurance Agent, I have a lot of them on my team.
They do really well because they already have prospects coming in and they just have one more service to offer them. I think it really works out great for them since if you are working with someone that will not quailify or simply can not afford the monthly premium you'd then be able to present AmeriPlan.
Being licensed and selling life/health insurance is very profitable...its also very expensive to purchase leads, continuing education, etc. Things that are very hard to maintain if you are just starting out, you don't make a profit initially. AmeriPlan is different considering the monthly maintenance fee and the marketing is very affordable.
AmeriPlan offers daily pay, weekly bonuses, monthly residual income, awesome and easily attainable commission plan, bonus builder overrides etc.
Just thought I would share that for those looking to add a product line to your exisiting portfolio and in turn increasing your income.
Much success to you all!
