Are there any brand new insurance agents out there?
It would be an excellent idea to create a blog and write about all of the experiences a person goes through in becoming and insurance agent and what happens after the license exam is completed successfully.
I would help in any way that I can.

Looks good. That post at the top makes me want to get off the phone calling leads and hit the road and do some B2B. Come to think about it, I'm gonna do just that tomorrow. Hope I can get the new guy at the office to ride along and do some too. It's always much more fun that way!

That's the best way to do it!
Some where else in one of these threads (I can't seem to find the older threads because Lakemen puts them in reverse random order), anyway, I made the comment that the phone was almost obsolete in our business and I think that is true.
If we call a person who is on the "Do Not Call Registry", we can be sued and there goes our E&O insurance premiums.
If we call a lead we purchased online, the person answering the phone tells us that they were requesting information on a retirement community in Nevada and they sure don't want to buy any insurance.
Mr. Jones is sitting in his den watching "American Idol" and when the phone rings he just looks at the Caller ID and sees that an insurance company is calling or he doesn't recognize the number so we just talk to the answering machine for a couple of minutes.
When we walk into a place of business, our only challenge is to make friends with the receptionist, very quickly. In a small business, we usually can walk right up to the owner and introduce ourselves.
Most agents make the mistake of trying to sell something on the very first meeting with a small business owner.
When I visit a business for the very first time, I introduce myself, give the owner my business card and tell him/her that I just wanted to come by and meet him/her and let them know what I did for a living.

Hi,
I am here just to share my insurance selling experience and hope that new insurance agents can gain important lesson from my experience. I was in the insurance industry for 2 yrs. I made a good amount of income by helping other people protect their family from uncertainties. But I stopped and concentrate on another career. But there was a news that shocked me lately.
I have once a prospect that I approached and I introduced life insurance to him. He was not convinced and did not get a life insurance. But I knew that he needed one because he was the breadwinner and he has 3 children. I can't convinced him because his mind was closed to the fact that he does not need a life insurance.
Now, I have heard a news that he died last week, leaving his pregnant wife and his 3 children. I was very sad to hear that news. But I can't do anything about it. The uncertainty happens. I had done my best as an insurance agent. I was not thinking going back again to life insurance selling but I will help people open their mind into the importance of life insurance.
For those new life insurance agents, you can set this experience of mine as an example to your prospects. Tell them that life insurance is that product of love. If you love your family, you should have a life insurance.
PS. I did not make this story up. This is really true. I hope you can learn from it.

Yeah joven222, sometimes we can do our very best to show an insurance need for a family, but for whatever reason, oftentimes people just want to "Wait".

This makes me very curious. You sound like the type of person who has a sincere desire to help people and you said you made a "good amount of income".
You had the perfect combination.

Hi Maze,
Yeah, for me, as to I understand it, Insurance selling should be centered on helping other people than focusing on what to gain from them. My formula for it is this: Service = Income. The more you serve the more income you can get. And when I say "serve", it means that Insurance agents should service these people in good faith.
If an insurance agent sells insurance policy for the good of his or her client, he or she will give a more appropriate plan for the clients based on their needs and income capacity. By developing the level of trust, agents can gain referrals and sometimes a second purchase.
But if an agent would think of money, he or she would recommend a plan where he / she can gain more income. But most of the time this approach would lead to lapsed policies. So, the level of confidence of clients decreases.
For new agents, this is one thing that you should know. Insurance selling should be more on a profession, a career, rather than thinking about it as a one time income opportunity. You are dealing with lives here. Try your best to help more people. That is your main priority in Insurance selling.
Help more people = good amount of income
As Maze said: "You had the perfect combination."

I was just very curious as to why you left the insurance business in the first place . . . but we all have our reasons.

Hi maze,
I left the business because it was kind of conflict with my other job. I did not perform well on the later part because of lack of time and I am stressed out. So I decided to change my career but I still believe in life insurance so I am here to tell other people what I knew about it and to share how important life insurance in our lives.
Today, I am not telling people about the importance of life insurance for me to earn, but I am sharing the real essence of insurance for them to understand and value their own lives.
