Selling Insurance over weekends and holidays...

Being this is a holiday weekend, how do you all feel about selling insurance over holidays and weekends? (especially Sundays) Do you find that you annoy people much more by doing this? Do you get into contact with more people? Are those that you get into contact with more receptive? Is there a lot less competition over the weekend or over holidays?

My mentor really advocates this and I have seen it work for him like a charm. What are your thoughts on this?

I don't think so. I'm sure people don't like to talk business on weekends, they'd rather be busy with other things e.g. going to church etc. But still the conversion rate would be much higher, as I'd have more opportunities to cover.

The agent I work for set 2 appointments for Sunday that was the best time for both husband and wife, and it was the customers choice. Those will be the only ones that will be called. If any leads come in on Sunday we might send e-mails. Most people don't like to be bothered on holidays with phone calls. I sure wouldn't try cold calling on the holiday.

If the client wants to meet and you don't care, then go ahead. As for prospecting on holidays, not I said the little piggy.

I'll try..because most of the voices I hear through answering machines might just turn out live for me on Sundays.

Sundays Seem to be a pretty good day for us. Usually after about 1:00 pm. Not so much though on holiday week ends. Sundays seem to work out pretty good for couples, you can usually catch both of them home.

Beatup, I'd say that your mentor is a genius in this regard. :D Though we may agree that people wouldn't like to discuss on a beautiful Sunday morning but at the same time they mightn't certainly enjoy such talks on a busy business day as well. On holidays people are likely to hear you more patiently than the other days of business. And, also you aren't taking much of their pleasure time away by visiting them on their off days, are you?

I sure wouldn't try cold calling on the holiday.

You may be right and therefore one may fix the appointments on the weekends and not calls. People may prefer meeting you personally on the weekend than answering to the phone calls. No, may be not cold calling but I'd rather set appointments on the weekends. What do you say Beatup?

Thanks,
Rupert

I know that the sales appointments I have had on Sundays, I can not remember one that did not buy. Saturdays seem much better than the rest of the week also.

As far as holidays, the work holidays like labor day, memorial day, Columbus day, etc. that fall during the week are usually above average because you catch more people at home and in a relaxed state of mind.
