I've been approached by several companies to go work with them. So I figured I would bring it to yall. I don't want to sell garbage.
1. How do you start out in health insurance? Ive heard alot of people start out with mega or united.
2. Is it even worth starting now that the country is leaning left.
3. How is the present economy affecting agents.
I have been planning for years to make a career out of health insurance. Any help you all have to offer would be great.

Hi Jng, so far the insurance industry hasn't suffered any major set back due to the ongoing crisis. The AIG bailout was a discreet issue and AIG's insurance is performing pretty well.
Regarding, starting as a health agent. I'd suggest that you investigate about the performance of the two companies you have been approached by and make an informed decision.

Jng, if you really want to begin the career as an agent, join a company that is authentic. A little search over the net would reveal the nature of the companies that you are intending to join.
The policy that is sold by Mega isn't a health plan rather a discount policy which they don't explain to their customers. Mega compensates only a very small portion of the claim and left the customer to deal with the rest of the bills.

I think agents have had some mixed experiences during the recession period.
Some of the core insurance types have not yielded good sales figures, while some of the lesser known ones have really been picked by consumers.

Everybody is wanting to buy health insurance now. Their job is no longer paying for it and they need something cheap.
I have more people to go see then I know what to do with.
