Hey Darnardo, please explain the part 'difficult to sell'. What do you mean by that?

Hi...I heard that it's better for an agent to specialize in selling either PC products or focus on LH products.

As a general rule, agents who do both, tend to be primarily P&C agents.

I agree with InsuranceExpert. If your selling both the P&C side is probably taking up most of your time. LH is really a specialty.

Hi darnardo1,

Did some research..
They'd usually look for agents who have an existing book to begin with. Also found out that 'multi line exclusive agents' as you call them are not rare but are appointed on the basis of a good conversion rate.
Are you planning to work for both P&C and LH products? Do you think it's important for you to work for companies who have good ratings?

when you say book what exactly do you mean? book of contacts?

are appointed on the basis of a good conversion rate.

Sorry but what do you mean "conversion rate"? Does this mean selling life insurance products to customers who one already has a policy on PC insurance?

Thanks

Hi darnardo1,

I think its more a personal choice.

L&H certainly offers bigger commission. And, therefor agents tend to specialize with the L&H.

P&C on the other hand are easier to sell since almost all would be needing auto or home or business policies. But P&C definitely offers lesser commission' and therefore I guess Expert has commented that agents who sell in both the lines are mainly the P&C agents.

Exactly! What I mean is that they actually prefer it. Do you have good contacts already?

Sorry but what do you mean "conversion rate"?

I simply meant it to be the "success rate" of your converting new prospects into customers.

Now, would you care to tell me whether you're planning to work for both L&H as well as P&C?

Steven, I think I've read in the previous posts of Darnardo that he is at an offshore location providing training to the agents there on behalf of his company. I doubt if he is directly involved in the sales process. He is building his knowledge through discussions.

Thanks,
Rupert
