Prep Exam can anyone give me insight on Kaplan -vs- license2go? I have no prior insurance experience other that my adjusters license which I received during IKE. I've been hired by SHC working with the senior market. I need to have this exam passed with in 2 weeks. Had a friend who said for a new agent you really need to be in a classroom hands on environment, then another told me they were OK with online course. Any thoughts that could point me in a direction would be most helpful. I've heard some good and bad with L2go's site. This a great forum and extremely helpful. Is there a website that post different reviews on prep classes? By the way cost is not an issue I want/need the knowledge. I know I have to do my part and study study study but if one helps over the other with new agents, I'd rather be in that arena. Thanks Deena

Being that you're working with SHC, it sounds like you'll be getting your Life and Health insurance license. Kaplan has an excellent program and it is very comprehensive. The licensing exams are not difficult, and many find that the 40 hour classroom courses are filled with duplicate information. If you have your adjusters license and are familiar with the basics, the online courses may be plenty for you.
As you stated yourself, the most important part is to study. Another good online company is learninsurance.com , as they also offer a great deal of support. I'm sure we can help you find clarification on subjects as well if needed.
GOOD LUCK!

License2go is also good and I think sufficient as well. Online courses may save your time of going to-and-fro the classroom. And, as you have already identified that studying yourself is the key to success you might sketch-out a study plan and stick to it.

Deena - Just a heads up. Make sure you can take the on-line course - each state is different in that aspect. I'm in MN and would prefer to do it on-line due to time constraints right now, but that's not an option for me - I had to take the classroom classes!

Thanks so much. I'm not working right now and I think since I'm a newbeeee that it's better for me to go the classroom so I can get the full effect of what I'm learning. Some of the online courses seem like a different language when I'm reading it. Thanks for the insite.

I took the Kaplan classroom course and it was wonderful - they had great instructors here in MN. It's also good to take the class just to make contacts with people that are at the same level (newbys) - I met 5 or 6 people that we now call each other with questions, help, etc.
