Hello All:
I was just wondering how you followup on quotes. For instance, you give an auto quote, how do you followup...Do you call them back every day? Do you email them? How often do you followup and for what time period?
In our office we don't really followup after giving a quote...we just basically tell them to call us if they'd like to do the policy. Our conversion ratio is pretty low as well and I'm trying to change that. Just wondering if we're losing a lot of business by not calling them every day.
Your input is very appreciated.

Calling them back isn't a bad idea. I'm not aware of any conventional method of following up the quotes, but there no harm in trying the options.
The big agencies may not bother to ring back the client to know their decision. They may feel that it's the responsibility of the client to contact the insurer after deciding. Its right to some extent. The insurance company has to deal with mass clientele & its difficult to give individual care to each and every customer. The customer, in such situations, needs to be proactive to contact the insurer back.

How amny times have I gotten a quote and forgot to write down all the information? Lots of times, especially if I am digging around a few companies. I think if some agency found the time to give me a call back I would like doing business with them better. I think that shows you are interested in your client and want to work with them.

I have a system that all of my producers follow. We send a thank you card to each person we qoute it takes about 5 days to get it. By time they get it they have herd for us 3 times. Since sending cards for qoute our closing ratio has increasted to 40 %. No one have that kind of service.

Good Job and idea! See this really is the thing us consumers like to see. These days people are really forgetful and simple reminders are some times a blessing. I also like the politeness and curtesy of the Thank you note idea. I can see why your business increased so drastically.

You agency is leaving the sales process too open ended.
The way I approach follow ups is getting a specific time to call back and to do this effectively you need to box them in with choices.
Is morning, afternoon, evening better for you?
Is monday or thursday better?
Would one pm or 3 pm be better?
Do you have something to write this down on?
Please write down any questions you have so that when we talk again, we do not overlook anything...
This gets the potential client involved and later helps you to make a sale by choice.
