I would be scared to buy insurance from any person r company that wasn't an agent. Don't insurance agents have to be licensed. I am pretty sure they do. It only seems reaosnable.

You have to be "blessed" by a company (or companies). I would start by getting your Property and Casualty license. Then get a job with an existing agent to learn how to do to things. Then..branch out and start your own agency.

Every single state requires persons who wish to transact insurance to be licensed in that particular state. Transacting insurance is generally defined as "a person wishing to sell, solicit or negotiate" insurance. There are many exceptions to the rule that allow customer service representatives to do a number of things without being licensed (see state rules for these exceptions).

Get your license!

you have to be licensed to sell, it's an exclusive type of thing so that not just anyone out there is taking peoples money

In the State of Michigan you can now take you property casualty exam without a company sponsor you need 40 hours of education credits and than take the exam. Once you pass you than need to have a comapny sponsor you if you are on your own. The other option is to find an agency to work with see if they would hire you and than as a bonus maybe they would pay for you to go thru the education coourse and pay for the testing and than they would sponsor you with the companies in that particular agency.
