Hi, does anyone know of any Texas-based organizations that focus on life insurance? I have come accross the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (“IIAT”) but it seems very P&C focused.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am primarily interested in finding useful conferences and trade shows to attend to start building a network.

Hey Duke, I think for the conferences and seminars you need to keep check with the local newspapers and channels. The organisers would certainly advertise such events for the interested participants.

  • Prudential Insurance Company of America
  • Farmers
  • Metropolitan Life insurance company
  • And, New York Life Insurance and Annuity Corporation

Are some of the most prominent life insurance companies that I can remember operate in Texas. You can obtain a list of the carriers licensed to do business in your locality from the department of insurance.

Thanks,
Rupert

Conferences could be projected the other way and the trade fairs could only highlight the good things. So in order to get a fair understanding of an organization's track record...you'd need to single out people closely associated with them and set a quiz session. That might help you generate a network slowly but steadily!
