Insurance Community Newsletter

by Insurance Maze » Wed Mar 12, 2008 02:51 pm

The idea is being kicked around about developing an Insurance Community Newsletter.

What do you think?
What information should the newsletter contain?
How do we promote our newsletter?
Who gets the newsletter?
How often should we provide the newsletter - weekly, monthly, quarterly?
Would you be willing to provide articles for the newsletter?

Hope we will have a lot of discussion on this.

Remember, Page 1 of Google by June 30, 2008!

What do you think about a "Member Spotlight" section where we will feature some registered member from the community, a brief bio on that member, and a featured article by the member?

I think that is a great

The plan is to publish the newsletter every 10-15 days, with the first edition coming out sometime in the first week of April

WOW! that's fast, and frequent...would you then be requiring/needing a new article every time?

Would you mind if you were the featured member in the first edition?

HOLY MOLY! Ok, for the good of the community ...but I guess I'm not 100% on what you want ?

If you agree, we would need your article by the end of March.

About what though?

I think it would be OK if you actually wrote your newsletter article as a Post in the Claims Forum and Lakemen could get it from there. That way we could get a "double" benefit from the article.

Need some help in what you are wanting...

Yes, we would want to publish "fresh" information, but we are only talking about a couple of paragraphs. Space is limited.

In every edition, we could feature one registered member - when they joined the community, what they do for a living, general area of the country where they live, contributions to the community, etc. I, personally, am not going to put very much "personal" information in the newsletter or any where else on the web. I think Lakemen would like a photo, but I just don't agree with that.

Since your expertise appears to be in the areas of "claims", you will probably want to write about that.
I think an article like, "What To Do And Not To Do At The Scene Of An Auto Accident" would be a good one. Sometimes, people really get "loose lipped" when they should be silent.

Again, just a couple of paragraphs (250-500) words or something like that.
We neither want nor have space for a three page report. 8)

By the way, what's going on with this area of the site, my page is splattered all over the place and half the stuff doesn't work.

Hi guys,

Its good to see two of the senior most members of the community discussing about the newsletter here. :) About time I joined in as well!

I think Lakemen would like a photo, but I just don't agree with that.

No problem Maze. We can have the photographs of only those members who are willing to share it with us.

I think an article like, "What To Do And Not To Do At The Scene Of An Auto Accident" would be a good one.

Lori, I think that would be a good topic to choose. Good suggestion Maze. And yes, we do want it to be not more than a 400-500 word article. What do you say Lori?

By the way, what's going on with this area of the site, my page is splattered all over the place and half the stuff doesn't work.

I dont see anything wrong at my end. May be it was a one-off thing for you as well. Keep me informed though.

Thanks,
Lakemen

I'd say once a month would be pretty frequent...but hey, you're the one doing most of the work...

that makes me feel a little better, i thought you were wanting full on in depth articles...

Yeah, he's already got a pic around here somewhere of me with my first ipod....ok, I've got a suggestion...how about if you ( ) come up with like a questionaire/profile that you would use on each one

...."What To Do And Not To Do At The Scene Of An Auto Accident"

that's fine, when do you want it and how do you want it? pm/email?

We neither want nor have space for a three page report.

all seems fine at the moment, i've been having a lot of 'issues' lately as well....just random weird stuff...

What do you say Lori?

ok

Yeah, I have that. :) Maze, did I tell you what color lipstick did Lori put that day?

that's fine, when do you want it and how do you want it? pm/email?

Lori I think that would be a great article to start off things in your Expert Guide Section.

Thanks,
Lakemen

Hey guys, do you think that we could try to get a sponsored section, they could put ads in from insurance companies? Just a thought to generate some income to produce the newsletter??????

We could approach our insurance companies to see if they are willing to do it, our home owners, our auto, etc. They could get a nice little blurb or do their own article??????

Could we do a state highlight as you run out of things to write about. Most people don't know who to contact state wise about insurance problems, but if we highlighted a state they would have all the information.

Just some thoughts.

When I was on the turnpike, all the ads were sponsored by insurance companies and they have the Nationwide cup series in Nascar now, seems like they are being more open, who would not go for a public awareness newsletter?

great thoughts...as a matter of fact this new post this morning

New Service to Be

even states he'd be happy to have a link and pay a commission...lakemen you miss that one?
====================
gotta run late already for getting ready to meet inlaws for brunch...

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL by the way!!!

I think it would be good for the "not covered enough" insurances, we tend to focus on the common here, auto, home owners etc, etc.

Sponsorships could lead into a lot of good things, maybe nationwide would give away some nascar tickets, LOL. You never know what it would lead into.

For example, State Farm, who does the sponsorship on the turnpike, http://www.paturnpike.com/tools/statefarm/info.html
They could do an article on traveling with the bigger trucks and other modes of transportation.

just another thought.
