Cut a long story short... (well, try too)
A car pulled out infront of me on a dual carriageway forcing me onto a grass verge and casuing a lot of damage to my car, the driver didn't stop so I chased him, overtook him and blocked the road. He was clearly drunk but due to the awful weather a couple of weeks ago the police were too busy to attend. He admitted liability at the road and gave details, my insurance company called him on a recorded line and managed to obtain full liability from him.
My car then goes into repair and I call the garage, they say, the estimator has put the value of the vehicle at 3300 and the repair bill is 3600 so the estimator has asked us to "cut back" on whats being repaired??
I call the insurance conmpany and there story is that the garage have reduced the rate to win the business and stop the car being a "total loss"
Its all front end damage and being repaired is:
*Bonnet pin (needs straightening)
*underlip of bonnet needs spraying and blending
*front leg reshape
*bumper beam
*bumper spray*
*headlamp
*fog light
*front passengers wing + spray
*new air con radiator
*passenger door respray
*complete from grill + trimmings etc
after some advice on what to look for as somewhere, £300.00 worth of parts / work is being ditched? Are they actually allowed to cut back or use aftermarket non genuine parts?
Cheers

They are just negotiating to reduce the costs. You simply don't compromise with the costs for repair, and ask for £3600 only.
And no, they are not supposed to use non- genuine parts.
