Can my ex take a policy out on me?

I discovered a life insurance policy my ex-boyfriend had taken out on me 8 months before we split, naming him as the sole beneficiary but me as the owner. I was not involved in the application process, was unaware of any of it and he has been paying the premium for the past six years. Is this legal?

This is awesome. You are the owner and he is paying the premiums. You can change the beneficiary and he won't know about it, but he'll continu paying the premiums.

You don't remember applying for the coverage, but you probably did do so. As the owner, you are the one who would have signed all of the documents.

Is there a possibility that you could talk to your ex regarding this?
That could be just another way of resolving it. It would give you an opportunity to clarify your intentions regarding the beneficiary status. The other option is to call the carrier and check what you can do about it.

It would be a really bad idea to talk to her ex. Her ex has no control over the policy. The only thing that might be accomplished by talking to him is he might stop paying.
