Help for new agent?

by e.ronzio » Fri Oct 16, 2009 06:36 pm

I am a stay at home mom and decided now is the time to get my license. I will be starting the pre-ed courses for L&A and H&A. I am wondering what my work schedule may be like the first year and also what income I can expect for a moderate amount of hard work? Also, any suggestions as to what is a good company to try and start out with? I do want to be a captive agent. I am not nervous about taking and passing the test, I'm just nervous about how to get myself out there once I get my license! Thanks for your answers!! :D

Hi e.ronzio! First of all, welcome to the forum. :)

Great question. A lot of it depends on who you're going to work for and what you're going to be selling in terms of product. It's a great big world of insurance out there. So, if you could give me a little info- I'd be happy to give you some info right back!

Could you tell me (if you like):

** What state you're in
** Brief work background (nothing personal please)
** The company you're thinking of working with would help me
** The prelicense education provider you're going to work with

Starting with the education and state questions- depending on the state will, in a large part, determine how difficult your initial licensing process will be. Different states have varied training requirements, and they range from the sublime to the ridiculous. Difficulty varies as well.

This ties into your background. What you've done in the past is a good indicator of how easy this transition will be for your future. The educational provider for your license exam training is a BIG part of your success. Trust me on this stuff...I do it for a living.

So, get back to us and we'll see what we can do for you!
