Why women pay less premiums?

I have heard that life insurance premiums for men are higher than the life insurance premiums for women? Is this true? And what is the reason for this?

Women are better drivers and their driving records are better than the men. They definitely pose lesser risks for our carriers.

It's a conspiracy.
Alternatively, it could be something crazy like men outliving women.

Yes, it's true that men usually pay higher premiums for life insurance than women the same age.

It is not true that women have better driving records is the reason for lower life insurance premiums. There are plenty of women with rotten driving records/skills. If it weren't so, the phrase "Woman driver!" shouted as an epithet by one man to another would probably never have been created.

According to well-documented statistics going back at least 150-200 years or more, from the time of birth, at least in America, women have a longer life expectancy than men.

So when an insurance company uses rate tables based on gender, that's the reason life insurance premiums are higher for men . . . they have less time to pay.

It does not answer the real question: Why do women live longer than men?

Personally, I think it's because the women just have to get in the last word.

Scientifically women have been regarded as being more sturdily built. They tend to live through things better than men. Statistically they also have higher rates of disability and pay usually higher disability insurance premiums than men of the same age on individually underwritten policies.
