It's sort of a discussion of apples and oranges. They're both tasty, but very different.
Life insurance pays a stated death benefit to your beneficiary following your death. Health insurance pays some or all of your hospital and doctor bills before you die.
Which of these payments is most important to you? That's probably the answer to your question. But, truly, there is not enough information provided to answer your question specifically. If you cannot figure it out on your own, then you need to meet with an experienced local broker or agent who can assist you.

Easy answer. Health insurance. If you buy life insurance and don't have health insurance, if something happens to your health, you won't be able to afford your life insurance payment.
Ignore my advice because that answer is correct most of the time, it ignores your personal situaltion.
If you can't afford both, you probably need to make changes in your life.

Wise counsel. I would append "or employment or both" after "life".

Or, we can get down to one of the most basic elements of any insurance policy: Statistics.
If I were a betting man, I would wager that you get sick, or have serious health problems long before you just up-n-die. Statistically speaking, the odds are definitely on my side.

Sorry, life insurance is not an investment. If it were, speaking strictly in terms of nonparticipating whole life, it would be a pretty poor one in most years with only a 5% internal rate of return. Having said that, over the last ten years, a 5% rate of return is nothing to sneeze at.
Oops, sneezing? Better check to see if my health insurance premium is paid this month.

I literally have boxes of case law having to do with agents who've confused life insurance with investments. These are some of the guys who USED to have insurance sales licenses.

Much depends on a state of your health and from your age. If you often visit doctors, buy medicines etc., to you possibly better to choose health insurance. Otherwise, probably, will approach life insurance more.

Health insurance is likely going to be more usefull right now and in the immediate future than life insurance.
This being said, I find it strange that so many agents are happy to get you taken care of when it comes to life insurance, and never bring up the topic of disability insurance (another more specifically focused form of health insurance).
Where's the shakes head with dissapointment smiley face?
