I have an uncle that just passed away. He named his beneficiary for his SEP IRA to his employers. I know he did not know what he was doing...what can I do about this?

It really depends. This is primarily a legal issue now. And we don't give leagal advice.

Yup, it's in your best interest that you should go to an attorney. Agents and employers of the deceased are probably the best people to tell you what exactly has happened.

If the uncle was married, his spouse would be the de facto beneficiary. But I'm confused. A SEP-IRA with "employers" named as beneficiary? Doesn't make much sense. Few employers with employees have either SEPs or Keoghs, because they don't want to contribute to their employee's accounts.

Are you sure his beneficiaries are his employERs and not employEEs? Because I agree with MaxHerr, having employERs as beneficiaries just does not make sense at all!
