A relative of mine has deceased recently and I’m a joint beneficiary with his children. Now I’m hearing they are going to investigate on it. Can an Insurance company investigate death life insurance claim??? Please advice!

Yes the insurance company does have the right to investigate within the 2 years of contestability period. After this period a clean death certificate is required. Investigation is also conducted in cases of death caused in an unnatural manner.

If the policy is actually LIFE INSURANCE and has been in force for more than two years, the policy has become INCONTESTABLE, and the insurance company has no reason to "investigate" unless there is a belief that the beneficiary is unlawfully connected to the death (as in homicidal involvement).
The only other reason to investigate a death claim is if there is an ACCIDENTAL DEATH benefit involved. If the death is not due to an accident, no accidental death claim is payable. Other than that, dead is dead and the insurance company must pay.[/quote]
