No doctor visit in 11 years

I am 58 years old and I haven’t been to a doctor in a little over 11 years. I walk every day for at least 2 miles, go hunting a couple of times a week and eat an even diet with some red meat here and there. I smoke about 3 cigars a day and I served in the Marine Corps for 20 years. Except for the occasional sniffles I haven’t had any major health issues ever. My daughter has been asking me to get life insurance for a few months now and every agent I talk to tells me that I’ll have trouble finding an insurance company which will cover me. Is this a fact or should I approach a company directly? I need to know all the facts before I go out looking. Can anybody help?

It really doesn't matter if you haven't been to a doctor for so long. You say you are in the best of health. Insurance companies wouldn't have any qualms about giving you a good premium rate. The insurance company will need to run a health check on you and if your health is up to their standards, you might just get the lowest rate possible. You can approach a company directly or you can hunt for a good agent. I'd recommend that you use the services of an agent since they will help you out post-sale.

Hello...
What is the real cost? It varies widely. Most young people don't see a need for health insurance because they're young and healthy. As they age, they enter the health insurance market at different rates, usually higher and higher the later they wait. Until finally, we have some folks who wake up one day and realize they waited too long and can no longer afford health insurance. A typical consumer self directed plan being offered by an unnamed Fortune 500 company is $4500 deductible for 80% coverage with $8500 max out of pocket for 100%. Street value is around $844/ mo. Along with this is a $1200/yr placed in a health savings account to use for deductibles, doctor visits and urgent care visits. Sounds a bit high I know but its the future without a public option.

So you can see that any benefit from company insurance is better than nothing at all when you consider that you may not be insurable at all without it.

Your numbers are way off base. You misstate the maximum deductible and annual HSA contribution limits. What's your real point?

The real point here is posting for bucks I think. None of the posts make any concrete sense.

Hi,
Health insurance has to be taken at the young age. Once it was taken at the young age the whole life can be restored.

Whole life can be restored? I have never seen a policy which says it can resurrect the dead in the event of loss of life.

Yes sir, I'm becoming financially independent $0.06 - $0.22 a post. And your point, Mr. #1 poster, is . . .?

Since you're in great health with no major medical issues, you can certainly receive a lower rate on your life premiums. Try using life insurance price comparison websites online to help you find the most suitable health insurance provider for your needs.

How would a life insurance website help a person obtain health insurance? Your two-months-late post makes no sense.
