My step-father died from lung cancer after years of chain smoking. He had a accidental death life insurance in his name with my mother listed as the beneficiary. I was wondering if the policy will pay out since this wasn’t an ‘accidental death’, rather a foreseeable ‘natural’ death. The death certificate has been issued already. Will the insurance company pay the death benefit?

Hi,
I think the insurance company won't pay the beneficiary, since it is not the Accidental death

AD&D (Accidental Death and Dismemberment) policies don't pay out anything in the event of the insured's natural death, which is the case here. Are you sure your step-father didn't have a general life insurance policy with a rider for AD&D attached to it?

You answered your own question. You might as well have asked, "Can I get milk from a bull, since only cows give milk?"
