May of 2007, my mother passed away from cancer. Her dying wish was told verbally amongst me, my father and a family friend while she was in her right mind in the hospital. She stated that she wanted her wedding ring to go to my daughter (her first grandchild) and she took her platinum hoop earrings (that my aunt gave her as a gift) off and gave them to me in my hands and said "these are yours." After her passing, my sister instructed the funeral home to give her the ring before they closed the casket. Since then, there has been more theft from my mother's jewelry box and from the house. My daughter and I have put everything in storage and moved in to help my father at his request. He has had (2) heart attacks, on dialysis 3x's a week, blind in (1) eye and obese. My daughter takes care of him while I am at work. She prepares his meals and wait on him hand and foot. My brother (42) and his wife (29) and (2) kids (3 & 8) live in the basement. Neither of them work. My brother wash my father's clothes and cut the grass only. His wife does NOTHING! I am the ONLY adult that leave the house for work every day (8-12 hours) and I am the ONLY one being charged rent and buying ALL the groceries.
Since, moving to help my father, my sister has refused to give my daughter the ring she took, my platinum earrings have been taken out of my room and the $500 pair of eyeglasses (that were my mothers) that my father gave me were all taken by my sister. In addition, my mother's tennis bracelet came up missing and my father accused me and my daughter, until my sister informed him that she took it. He never apologized to us. Can I have my sister charged with theft?
