What are the options for an individual with cancer pre-existing? I heard about final expense. Is that the only way out?

It depends on the type of cancer and the prognosis. In some cases, if a person has been treated for a specific cancer, and has been treatment free for a certain period of time, they can obtain new life insurance -- perhaps even as a standard risk. Non-metastasizing breast cancer or basal cell melanomas are in that category.

If a person is currently diagnosed with cancer and is terminally ill, final expense coverage may be all that's available. The most a person would be qualified for is about $50,000. You would not be able to get 10 $50,000 policies from 10 different companies.
